laser therapy
Light helps heal. This applies to the treatment of superficial wounds and diseases as well as to deeper problems. In order to bring the healing power of light into the deeper regions of the body and thus supply muscles, joints and nerves with healing light, we use laser therapy for you. This treatment method, which is widespread in orthopedics, enables rapid and lasting relief from symptoms and the improvement of a wide variety of diseases.
Here we would like to introduce you to how laser therapy works, which diseases it is used for and how we carry out this therapy for you. If you are interested in this form of therapy or have further questions, we will be happy to answer them.
Mode of action of laser therapy
High-quality, precise orthopedic lasers are used in our practice. Like any laser, orthopedic laser devices produce light of specific wavelengths. This penetrates through layers of tissue and unfolds its effect at a certain depth. In addition to a healing heat effect, which you will already feel during the therapy, the light stimulates the metabolic processes of the activated cells. Depending on the area of application, this strengthens the immune system, stimulates cells to heal, fights inflammation or ensures the elimination of toxins. Circulation can be stimulated and painful accumulations of fluid can be reduced. Wound healing can also be stimulated by therapy with laser light.
We use laser therapy for a wide variety of diseases of tissue, joints and bones. In the case of neuralgia, we stimulate the self-healing powers of the nerve cells. Pulled muscles heal faster due to the increased blood flow and can quickly improve. Laser therapy can also accelerate the healing process in the case of inflammatory diseases of joints and tendons and thus quickly alleviate the symptoms. Joint diseases such as arthrosis, tennis elbow or intervertebral disc wear not only benefit from the beneficial heat effect, the associated side effects can also be alleviated. Laser therapy is an important part of our overall treatment for these diseases.
Laser therapy is painless, fast and practically without side effects. By specifically stimulating the most important areas, self-healing can be targeted to the parts of the body that are most affected. Simultaneous use of medication is not absolutely necessary.
Laser therapy with us
Laser therapy always begins with a careful anamnesis. Using a wide variety of examination methods and an intensive discussion between you and your orthopedist, the cause of your symptoms will be determined and the appropriate therapy decided on. If you and our therapists agree that laser therapy is suitable for you, a detailed consultation will take place first. In this you will be informed about the mode of action of laser therapy, the expected effect and all aspects of this treatment method in your specific case. Of course, you also have time here to ask any questions that are important to you, which we will be happy to answer in detail.
The actual therapy sessions are relaxed and without major interventions. The laser is placed on the bare skin and its wavelength and intensity are adjusted so that it can take effect exactly in the desired area. The laser then shines into the tissue for a few seconds and stimulates it. The use of needles, cooling gel or other means is not necessary. Depending on the application, you will feel nothing or only a pleasant warmth. The laser treatment takes a few minutes. After a rest period, in which the stimulated metabolism unfolds its effect, it is repeated. Depending on the indication, a laser treatment is repeated between three and ten times. Often, however, there is an initial improvement after the first one or two treatment sessions, which intensifies and consolidates over the course of the following sessions. Together with other treatment methods, we enable healing and long-term treatment success.
