foot diseases

Our feet carry us through life day after day. Diseases in the foot area are therefore particularly annoying. However, the orthopaedist can usually treat heel pain, splayfoot, flat foot or Achilles tendon pain conservatively.
The causes are manifold:
  • foot deformities

When walking, the healthy foot touches down with the heel and rolls over the metatarsus and big toes. The arch of the foot works like a spring that absorbs the body weight. Foot deformities can be congenital or acquired.

  • heel spur

In the case of heel spurs, a bony outgrowth forms in the area of the heel, which causes severe pain in the heel due to friction with the tendons of the foot.

  • Plantarfaszitis

Inflammation of the tendon plate of the lower foot, which forms the longitudinal arch of the foot, is called plantar fascitis. The symptoms are often confused with heel spurs.

  • Achilles tendon disorders

The thickest tendon in the body catches the body with every jump. It serves to connect the heel and calf and enables us to run and jump. The orthopedist knows a number of causes that lead to inflammation, calcification and pain in the Achilles tendon.

  • broken bones

Fractures that do not require surgical treatment are treated conservatively in our practice.

  • arthrosis of the ankle

It is often caused by wear and tear on the joint, usually due to malposition or incorrect loading of the foot.
